Jefferson Memorial

This is a try at a group effort in "Different Strokes" blog. Not the most successful painting, but a stretch for me in the lighting, color and the fact it is a landscape.

Love the light. That on the columns looks positively liquid.

Ciao Gianlucio! I saw your paintings on your blog, and I especially like the horses and the sax player!

"Not the most successful painting"??? I disagree, I think it's one of the most successful ones of all the group, especially the cropping and composition. It's also my favorite amount of painterly looseness and yet the structure is solid. I think you did a great job.

Thanks Camille. I do feel kind of lost in landscapes, and more comfortable in figures.

Me, too, Maryanne! I'd rather do figures any day. Landscapes and buildings -- *not* my forte' -- at all! But I'm going to try and do the SF Victorian. We will see! I can see why you feel comfortable with figures, you do them very well. I like your self-portrait in your avatar very much; showcases your skill.
