What I find SO interesting about this piece is that you first capture the essence from the photo, and then insert an emotion or thought or perspective that flies from the canvas. In the photo, he seems to be thinking of something routine; in the painting, it is as if you pulled what he REALLY cared about from his gut. Good job!
Well, I can't say it any better that Coyote did. This is absolutely outstanding! Your color palette and brushstrokes jump off the canvas with such emotion. This will definitely be one of my very favorite portraits of the challenge.
Gorgeous! Love those thick paint strokes. I opened up to the larger view and delighted in the way you've used shapes as indication of features rather than trying to paint the feature itself. The effect is a very lively and accurate likeness. Outstanding work!
wow, thank you for all the positive comments on my painting. I have been working on "loosening up" -- and your comments have let me know I am going in a good direction.
Hello Maryanne Buschini, okay. Only now are writing, it is only now that I finished your portrait. I have no more words to describe what has already been said. I'm having a great happiness with the quality that made painting my picture. I live in Portugal in Oporto city famous for port wine. I have my blog e-mail is damiaovieira64@gmail.com I hope you like the painting I did of your photo, I liked to paint. I also understand that I wrote it because it is the English Google. It was a pleasure to meet you and thanks for everything. A Good Year 2010.
Your entry for the challenge is absolutely wonderful. The thick strokes, loose style and use of color have a confident, yet playful quality that I love. Congratulations and best of luck in the new year.
Loved the painting you did of Damiao for Karin Jurick's challenge. Wasn't that fun. I too painted a portrait.... I have a wonderful idea that I'd like to talk to you about and am hoping you'll contact me....Jill Polsby polsby@yahoo.com

His interpretation of you has this mixture of whimsical and wistful. I can see the child in you here. Interesting!
